Smartphone

I am blogging from my phone since my camera is broken and am using my phone to take pictures.  The phone may be smart but the user is not.  My post from yesterday vanished into thin air!

So...we wore our purple to get groceries
yesterday but our KSU Wildcats lost.

Tate did not nap well today.

On the mend

We are feeling a little better.  I even let Tate play outside.

Sick X 3

No one here feels good although Tate seemed a little better today.  He was just healthy enough to get into a lot of trouble and throw numerous tantrums.  I still won't let him play outside but he definitely needed to go burn off some energy.  He broke the living room lampshade, got away from me with the toilet paper, pulled the candy bowl out of the pantry, pulled a bag of chips off the table, charged into the trash can, squirted his food pouch everywhere, and spit out all of the water I gave him.  I swear I was watching him but he always seemed to be one step ahead.  My house looks like a war zone.  The little stinker managed to end on a high by making a lovely cheese face and by piling  all of his trucks on Brett and I.

Sick

Tate is still not feeling well and has a runny nose and low fever.  He only slept 30 minutes all day because he was too congested to suck his thumb.

The exterminator came today so we ate lunch with my dad at his house.  Tate had a lot of fun over there and was very upset when I would not let him play outside when we got home.

Tate is very interested on body parts right now and can point to his head, mouth, ears, tummy and toes.

Pictures

Remember those 1 year pictures Tate had taken 3 months ago?  We FINALLY got them!!!!

I thought Tate's allergies were bothering him but by the end of the day he was running a low fever so it might be a cold.  He was a puny guy today and wanted lots of snuggles and chocolate.

15 Months

Hard to believe Tate is already 15 months old.

Your favorite toys are your tractors and trucks that you drive on the coffee table and couch while saying "vroom."  You also really like crayons but have a hard time understanding that they are only for coloring on paper.  You enjoy your books and like to point to everything and turn the pages instead of listening to the story.  You chatter all day long and can convey your wants for the most part.  Right now you prefer mom to anyone.  You LOVE cats and Duke.  You chase cats all over the yard but aren't very gentle when you pick them up.  You LOVE to be outside and throw many fits a day when you can't go outside when you want to.  You enjoy clapping and like to play pat-a-cake and clap to Dora on tv.  You really like to wave and do it all the time, especially after your nap.  The last few times you have been around kids you just love them and always try to give them your toys.  You have 12 teeth cut through the gums although your molars are still not all the way in.  You have decided that you hate to have your teeth brushed and hate your baths so bedtime is not much fun.  You go to bed around 8 and wake up at 6.  You usually nap for a couple of hours in the afternoon in a regular bed.  You love milk and prefer to drink it warm and on mom's lap.  You drink about 20 oz. of milk a day from a straw cup.  You are a good eater, although you are very picky.  Your favorite foods are waffles, yogurt, broccoli, grilled cheese, pizza, and French fries.  You finally willingly ate green beans and watermelon just the other day.  You are good at feeding yourself with a fork or spoon.  You are on the go most of the day and can pretty much run.  You are a monkey and like to climb everything.  You are wearing mostly 18 and 24 month clothes.  You are wearing size 4 diapers but not for much longer.  We have to put you in size 6 overnight diapers otherwise you are not dry in the morning.  At your 15 month well-check you were 26 lbs. 10 oz. and were 32.5 inches tall.  We love your personality that is coming out.  You are such a sweet and silly guy.

The Saga Contiues

Annie, the queen of the royal bovine family as explained here, has cancer in her eyes.  The vet around here didn't want to mess with it so she got to go toManhattan and get operated on at the vet school.  They completely removed one eye and removed a growth from the other.  Brett took Tate and I down there to check it out and she looks tough.  Tate said "cow" while we were there and he also signed "more" when we tried to leave.

Tate scratched his arm pretty badly on the garden fence.  We took him to my parents' house so they could see his arm all sad and bandaged.  While we were there he said "fish" after he saw the fish on the wall.  He had to have a cookie too!

My Mom Rocks!

My mom is awesome.  I am so happy she is near to help me with my first time mom jitters, fears, and questions.  I had a mom fail last night and Tate slipped in the bathroom and hit his head.  I called my mom and she calmly assured me everything would be alright as I turned into a basket case on the other end.  Thanks again mom!  I love you!

Today we had a very busy day.  We had to go to the doctor for a well check and had to wait in the exam room forever.  My smartphone saved the day!!  Tate showed off for the doctor and is doing well developmentally.  The doctor handed him a new book and we turned to a page full of balls.  Tate immediately said "ball" without being prompted.  I was SO proud!!!  Tate got 2 shots and screamed at the top of his lungs.  The nurses gave him a sucker.  It was his first sucker and it was so good he forgot all about the pokes.  We ran errands and Tate had his first taste of Taco Bell.  He wasn't sure about it.  I picked up some used tractor and car toys before leaving town and Tate loves them!  I just love the feeling I get from loving my baby boy!

Found these gems on the computer.  Just an FYI - my mom and Brett visited me at a plant when I interned with Hormel.  I like the picture and wanted to share!

Broken camera

My camera has to get repaired. The USB port on it has come loose and is not working. On a happier note, we are finally catching up to the rest of the technological world and getting smartphones. Off to town we go....

Words

I didn't get any pictures taken today.  Here are some of the words in Tate's vocabulary.  He keeps surprising me with words that he is retaining.  For example, tonight he was helping me with dinner and when we got out the cheese slices he said "CHEE."

Duke (Due)
Kitty
Shoe
Mama
Dada
Papa
Up
Tractor (Track)
Go
Out
Chip
Cake
Cookie (COOK)
Broccoli (Brocol)
Cheese (Chee)
Bye
Baby

Animal sounds are hit and miss.  He has made these, but not consistently:
BAA
Quack
Boo (Moo)
Roar (Dinosaur or any other scary looking creature in books)
Ruff
Meme (Meow)

I have been working on a little bit of sign language.  He has picked up on "more" and uses it whenever he wants anything, usually a snack.

Finally, my most favorite thing of all:  After most bites of something he really likes he says "Mmmm" and nods his head!

Love my little guy to pieces!!

Battle

We are having issues with sleep again. Tate seems to hate his crib. He will not nap in his crib at all and has started waking at night again. :( He is having trouble going to sleep at night. I am not sure what is going on but I hope it passes quickly!

Fun Day

We did fun things today and I intentionally left the camera at home.

Tate and I rode in the tractor with Brett for a while this morning then we played outside the rest of the morning.  This afternoon Tate and I went to his buddy's first birthday party.  Tate had fun playing with all of his friend's new toys.

So for today, an oldie but a goodie that was taken during college!

Frog

There was a frog in the yard today.  Duke and Tate both had fun with it.  Duke got a new blanket and seemed pretty happy.

Technology

I am going back to my reproductive specialist next month and had to fill out a million forms that were supposed to send electronically.  Yeah right!  Pretty sad that things are not working out better and we have to go back to the specialist.  It is a 2 hour drive so it will be a major pain.

Say some prayers for us so we can give Tate a sibling.

Popsicle

Tate tried a popsicle again and he liked it!  Today we went to visit a mom in our playgroup who had her 2nd baby.  Another mom from our group was there too so Tate got to play with his 2 favorite little girls.

Tate is in love with Dora the Explorer!!  I let him watch it in the evening when he is getting tired but it isn't time for bed.  Tonight there were marching ants and he went nuts and was moving his body up and down with them.

We noticed tonight that Tate's 4th molar has started to come through the gums.

Fort

I built Tate his first fort today and he loved it!  We had a busy day today.  We took cucumbers to my great-aunt then my friend met us at the park with some new kittens to take home.

Summer is coming to an end and I am SAD!  My mom goes back to work tomorrow and my nephews started school today.  Only 3 more years until Tate can start school.  :(

Corn Meal

I got out the tub of corn meal for Tate.  He loved it until he got it in his eye.  Then he got to play with the hose, which I think he loved even more!

I ran down to see my mom this afternoon and she had just got home from getting groceries and had a box of apple fritters on the table.  Apple fritters are no stranger in our house so Tate recognized the box right away and wanted a "COOK."  He ate almost a whole one all by himself.  Later, when he was playing in the living room he snuck into the kitchen and brought the whole box of apple fritters back out to us so he could have more.

Silly kid!!

Roomies

On Friday we went to Manhattan to visit some of my college roommates.  Things are a little different now as 2 of us have babies, one is pregnant, and one has a great job all the way down in Houston!

I met all of my roommates in the dorms.  Our sophomore year of college I lived with 5 other girls and 1 guy in a dumpy, giant house that was infested with cockroaches.  The guy moved out and another girl joined us for our junior year.  That year the squirrels decided to move into the attic.  The house was in such disarray that it either needed to be torn down or have some major work done to it.  Sadly, our beloved house got demolished and an apartment building was built in its place.  We split up and I only lived with 3 of the girls my senior year.  We had some very fun times together!!  I also met Brett through one of my roommates.
