Waiting

We took Tate back to the doctor yesterday. He had an extremely good day so the doctor was pleased to see progress so she wants to wait 4 months and see him again before she makes a diagnosis. Brett and I feel frustrated and helpless. She also told us that if it is autism there is a 20% chance of a sibling also having it. We did some shopping and took Tate to Chuck E. Cheese's before we headed home. 

Hat

Tate adores his fedora!  He was on the go so I didn't get any good pictures. He helped me take out the step in front of the fireplace today. By help, I mean jumped on it while I worked on it!  He did a good job singing the apples and bananas song and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.  Congrats to our friends who had a baby girl this afternoon, making them a family of four!

Sensory

Tate has been getting upset lately if his hands get dirty so I made him do a sensory activity with shaving cream. He didn't like it much at first but then came around. We had a busy day!  Tate went it the dentist for the first time. The dentist checked his teeth and said they looked good.  Tate only cried for a little bit. Then we checked out the library in the "big" city where we found out that story hour was going on. We left after Tate threw a fit because I wouldn't let him play with a wooden train on display. We ate DQ on our way home. Tate even held my hand and walked to the car twice!

Weekend

I stayed away overnight from Tate for the first time.  One of my college roommates just had a baby so our whole crew got together and rented a hotel suite so we could meet the baby and all catch up. It was fun but I am too old to stay out until 2 am!!  Brett watched Tate and took him to my parents' when he had to work. Aunt Amy visited on Sunday and brought a Cookie Monster doughnut for Tate. He was pretty sad when they cut it in half.  He has had better days. I got a book from the library about cleaning up toys and tonight he told Brett he was going to clean up and he did...then dumped everything out again!  We ran to town to get some stuff for our fireplace project and ate lunch at Arby's. Tate didn't love it but he sat better than ever!

Sick

Tate did not feel well today. We had a rough time from 3:00-5:00 in the morning. Tate somehow finally ended up sleeping on the living room floor until 8:00. He ended up napping there too. We met Grandma Mike for dinner (grandma is babysitting cousins) and Tate wanted nothing to do with sitting and eating. 

Kisses

For as long as I can remember I have wanted to be a mother and be loved like a mother. I know Tate loves me and needs me but tonight he SHOWED me!  After his bath he gave me a hug on one side, gave me a kiss (a real kiss and not one where he tricks me and bites my lips) then hugged the other side. He repeated this over and over for probably 10 minutes. It was one of the most special moments of my life and it brought me tears of joy. He did well for speech today and his teacher was impressed when he named a dragon and a shark beanie baby.  By the time she left though, he was a tired, snotty mess. He had a very runny nose the rest of the day. 

Girls Night

I had a girls night out and had a beer and Mexican food with some very awesome women tonight!

Tate did not have an awesome day. He seemed sleepy and out of it. He did somehow manage to find Lady and the Tramp and brought it to us asking for puppies. He loves the Siamese cat part and dances and meows to it. Brett said he also howled like the sad dogs in the pound. Silly guy!

Here is how I found the mail. Our mailbox is literally out in the middle of nowhere on a dirt road. 

Monkey

Tate fell asleep in Daddy's arms yesterday morning. He didn't sleep well and got up super early. He was feeling pretty good later in the day and climbed on top of the coffee table. He was pretty proud of himself. 

Today was beautiful. Tate and I worked in the yard all afternoon. He did not have a great day. We went to story hour where he just wondered and caused a scene. Did I mention some of the mom's suggested I go to a different library that was arranged differently so he would be less of a distraction for the other kids?  Thanks for understanding moms!

Boots

Rubber boots are a necessity right now. Tate had a terrible night and then refused to nap. He was in his own little tired world today.

Down

Poor Tate is still not his usual perky self. He started the day wanting momma and laid himself down on the couch. He did take a good nap and perked up enough this afternoon to play outside.  He ended up taking his first shower since he climbed in with me. He loved it and cried when he had to get out.  I didn't think he interacted very well with me today. 

Teeth

Tate is cutting his bottom incisors and the poor guy is miserable. He couldn't take a nap and he cried all afternoon. He even sat on my lap for a long time chewing on his teething toys. 

He stayed with grandma and papa this morning while I got a haircut. He was good for them!  

Valentine's Day

We had a busy day today. We had to get Tate's hearing checked. We drove 2 hours for a 15 minute appointment and turned around and came home. Ok, so we did a little more than that but it seemed that way. We ate Freddy's on the way there where Tate tried to give a little girl a drink of his water. Tate passed his hearing test with flying colors just as we suspected. The ladies there were awesome and Tate did just what they wanted him to do. Then I went to Target while the boys went to Cabela's. Next we dropped some stuff off at my brother's work. My mom sewed them a crib skirt, curtains, and a quilt so we delivered it today. Baby can come now!!!  Then we went home because Tate needed a nap. 

I had a surprise before we left this morning!  Brett ran to town and got me flowers and awesome turnovers!  He is awesome!!  I love him!  We got Tate a puzzle with different colored fish on it.
