Swimming

We went swimming at the city baby pool for the first time this summer. Tate wasn't so sure about it at first and then he tripped and fell while in the water and was totally over the pool. Then he darted for the big pool. Luckily I caught him before he fell in. Finally I got him calmed down and had to hold his hand for a while before he decided the pool really was fun. He had a blast and threw a huge fit when we left.

Class Reunion

We went to Brett's 10 year high school reunion over the weekend. 4 out of his class of 13 made it. We had a good time and Tate played so well!  Brett got lucky and was the only one who managed to hang onto his hair!

Well check

Tate had his 2 year old well-check today. He is healthy!!  The doctor told us that Tate is a completely different kid than he was at 18 months. We see it too!!  We only had to mark the wrong answer one time on the m-chat, a screening for autism. At the 18 month appointment it was pretty much the opposite.  He had to get a shot today but was totally over being at the doctor's office for an hour so he had my phone when they came in with the needle. He kept watching his cartoon while they stuck him and he didn't even cry. We went to the bank then got lunch at McDonalds. Tate was a crazy ball of energy and had a hard time sitting to eat and had a lovely tantrum. Then we ran farm errands, including a trip to get a part at the John Deere dealership that is full of toys to buy. Tate did cry when we left there. He slept on the way home then we played outside all afternoon. We put his slide in his pool and he loved it.

Raindrops

It finally rained a tiny bit today. Tate went outside to check it out. "Raindrops!!!!"  He seemed in awe!  Then he found mud by the down spout and he was in heaven.

Kittens

Brett found 5 kittens today. Tate LOVED them. He loved them too much and can't see them again until they get bigger. They have their eyes open but are still pretty small. Tate was SO upset when we made him go inside.

2

Where has the time gone?  Tate is officially 2 years old. I can't believe the amount of love I have for him. I am so proud of how he is doing. He is so smart and continues to blow me away with the stuff he knows. Today he named the white play-doh and later brought a toy horse to me and told me that horses eat grass. We celebrated with family on Saturday and had a few of Tate's friends over to play this morning. Everyone has been sick so just a few kids made it. They played together pretty well. This afternoon I got Tate's pool out for the first time this year. He told me "shirt off" and then hopped in after I took it off. I made him Rice Krispie treats and chicken strips and French fries. I would say he had a good day!

Smoke

Sigh!  I filled my pot of scalloped potatoes too full and they cooked over. The smoke detector went off. Tate was playing in the basement at the time and came upstairs in a hurry saying FIRETRUCK.

Outside toys

Tate wanted his outside toys after his nap today. He sat down right beside Duke for a little rest.

Gifts

Tate played hard with all of his new presents today. He is so much fun! A few things he said:
A car has wheels that go around and around in a circle.
(After looking at his new puppy hooded towel and panting like a dog) I need a dog treat.
I need honey bun!
He thought it was so funny at supper when he was being messy with his spaghetti and I told him he was my little piggy!
He wanted me to ride my bicycle while he rode his new tricycle. Such a special, fun moment!
We had a few battles today as Tate learns the concept of outside only toys!

Lick it

Tate and I made his birthday cake today. I tried to put the beaters in the dishwasher when I heard "lick it!"  He loves his Cars birthday decorations.

Better

Aside from a super nasty diaper, Tate seems to be doing much better. He had such a great day. His eye contact was AMAZING and he wanted to play WITH me all day. He got re-evaluated by the county and aside from observing him with peers which they will do soon, they think Tate scored very well. He did awesome for them. They sat down and Tate said "instructions" while he look at the instructions to his train track. Then he fed them play food. Finally, he took all of the clothes off of his doll, Wilson and made him go potty. He also gave him a bottle. Tate was not very interested in the puzzles and games that the teacher brought though.

Gift

Tate got a birthday gift in the mail today from his aunt, uncle and cousins. He filled it with pillows then thought it was funny to hide under them.  He is getting a molar and having a very hard time sleeping.

Busy

I took ABA training all week. It was so interesting and I took away a lot of useful information. We got to work with autistic children. It was amazing to see the changes in them by the end of the week. Thanks to everyone who watched Tate!  Yesterday we had Tate's 2 year pictures taken and then went to a birthday party with a bounce house. Tate had a blast. Today he was puny. He wanted to do nothing but sit on my lap and watch tv. He fell asleep by 11:30. By evening he had a temperature of 102. Poor boy!

Owen's Baptism

Owen got baptized today so I am officially a Godmother!  He did good, even when the priest poured holy water in his eyes. Tate did pretty well too!

Fun

Tate was so much fun today. He is just starting to understand the concept of hide and seek. His ONLY hiding place is behind the chair in his room. He also likes to play in blanket forts and asks me to "build fork" frequently. We had a great time outside. The wind finally stopped blowing. The boys had a snack together. Duke made a nest in the garden. If only we had weather like this everyday!  Tate went to bed and stayed in bed without a fuss tonight. He is still waking up two times a night but just needs a little pat from mommy.
