Builder

My little builder. He was building houses. He kept saying he needed more pieces of wood (cardboard) and would go bang, bang when he was using his hammer puzzle piece.

Play-doh

Grandma and grandpa stopped by for a visit.  Tate enjoyed making play-doh snakes.

Also, Tate was my kitchen helper this morning. He said he was making cookies for Owen. In reality I made homemade angel food cake, Pioneer Woman's vanilla ice cream, cucumber salsa, and blondies.

Ice Cream

We had a fun day!  Brett, Tate, my cousin Annie, and I all went swimming. We started in the big pool. It was Tate's first time in there this year and he really liked it at first but then he wanted to play in it by himself.  After a giant fit we convinced him to play in the baby pool. He had a great time and even pretended he was a fish. He actually made the three of us get in the pool and be fish too. Then we went to the Dairy Queen for supper. Tate decided to eat my ice cream cone.

Things like this happen if I take my eyes off of Tate for long...

Oops

I went to look at pictures from today and realized the only one I took was of a poopy in the potty. Mom problems!  Tate has definitely entered the terrible 2s. He loved the word no today.

Dry Diaper

Today we went to play at the park and get groceries. We tried out a new park and Tate mostly wanted to play with the crank cars. He had a hard time leaving the park but listened and cooperated well when we got groceries and he ride the train toy at the store. We watered the bushes when we got home. He got soaked and immediately when I took his clothes and diaper off right when we got inside he sat on the potty seat. His diaper remained dry the whole time we got groceries and played outside. It was dry after nap too so on went the undies. He did a good job keeping them dry. A few times he went just a little and realized it then stopped. I hope he can keep it up. Duke was crying at the door and Tate said "Duke is sad.  He needs a teeny tiny puppy."  He also sorted some dyed noodles and buttons by color.  He ate real popcorn for the first time and devoured it. Puppy got some too.

Speaking

Tate's latest comments:

I need to see doctor. I bumped my head.

Dogs poop in the grass. Cats have big poop.

Covers face up with blanket and says:  I can't see.

He noticed a person smiling in a book and said:  He is happy.

He also speaks in whale like Dory from Finding Nemo which he has probably only watched twice in his life. I made a fish face for him and he thought I was so funny.

Whiskers

Tate noticed Brett's whiskers for the first time today. We had a good day despite a rough night. Tate's teacher came and played a game with us that Tate actually participated in. This afternoon he asked "Sit with me and read books?" and let me read to him for an hour. Reading to him while he is snuggled up to me is my favorite way to pass the time. My heart is so full of joy tonight. I am truly blessed!

Train

It rained just enough to chase the guys out of the field so my parents, Brett, and Tate all went out to dinner at Pizza Hut. Then we stopped for groceries where Tate got to ride the train.

Mud

Tate is a mud magnet. He learned how to climb the garden fence today.  My oatmeal container grain elevator was a hit.

Brain

Tate's brain is always working.

Today he said:
Do you want to play cars with me mom?

There's a creature (pointing to basement window while pretending to sleep)

5-4-3-2-1. (Yep, he totally counted backwards from 5 when I asked him how many fingers he had - can't count to 5 forwards)

(Racecars that he built)

JDB

Brett and I went on a date to our county fair. We had fried food then enjoyed a concert. Brett's friend from college was the opening act. We got to say hi and enjoy the show. I hope Jared Daniels makes it big someday!!  Tate was good for my mom and dad.

Happy

Tate was finally a happy boy today. He decided at noon he needed a nap (he told me he wanted to take a nap) and slept for 3 hours. It was good because I had a long morning of garden work and freezing green beans and carrots so I needed a rest. I am still not feeling great.

Cry

Today has been a day. I had to wait almost an hour to be seen by the eye doctor. Tate woke up about 30 minutes into his nap and was hysterical. He would not calm down. He would say he wanted to sit in the chair but once we got in the chair he would say he wanted to go to bed and storm off into his room and slam his door and lay on his bed and cry. These crying fits went on all afternoon. I had a parish council meeting and Tate got upset when I had to leave. I got to town only to find out that the nun forgot about the meeting so it got rescheduled for next week. Tate said he was tired and wanted to go to sleep when I got home so we skipped the shower and put him straight to bed. I have a stuffy nose and sore throat.

Wheat

We finished up cutting wheat today aside from mud holes. Tate and I rode on the combine. He ended up running a low fever while we were out there.  That explains why he has slept a little better and was snuggly this afternoon.
