Zoo

Brett's parents took Tate to the zoo today.  We all had a lot of fun. Tate only cared about monkeys for a while and after we saw some he was okay with the other animals. I think his favorites were the reptiles.  We got to watch the zookeeper feed the lions some bones.  Tate made some new friends in the little play center. 

Goofy

Tate thought it was fun to paint with his mouth today. It was such a rough day for Tate. I think he is teething but nothing seemed to go his way and it was just one fit after another. 

Boy

Tate is a busy boy. He made the best vacuum sounds as he drove the little sweeper around his room!

Good

Tate had such a good day!  He was unsure when we first arrived at the dentist's office this morning. Luckily he warmed up right before it was his turn and he did great!!  He played outside the rest of the morning. Right before lunch he spotted the moon dough. We told him if he took a good nap he could play with it. He put himself in his bed after lunch and was hollering that he wanted to go to sleep. He took a 2.5 hour nap then woke up wanting moon dough. He played outside until supper. I took him a snack a and he took it under the tree to eat. 

Bus

Once Tate had his backpack on, he said he was ready to ride the school bus. We killed some time this afternoon by visiting grandma and grandpa. 

Day

What a day it has been!  Brett had a wasp dive bomb him and sting him in the eyelid. Tate did the bucket challenge again today. 

Marbles

We got out the old marble run that my brother and I had as kids. Tate loved it and played with it for over an hour.  We had dinner with our friends tonight. Tate needs to work on sharing. Right before bed I was asking Tate what he wanted to be when he grew up. The only reply I got was, "I want to be sleeping."

Baby

Tate asks to play with my dolls from time to time. It is so much fun to watch him play daddy. We made a baby bed out of a box and I guess Tate needed a little time as the baby. Brett did the ice bucket challenge this evening. Tate wanted to do it too and did a great job. After it was finished Tate kept refilling his bucket in Duke's pool and dumping it in his head. 

Costume

A Halloween episode of Barney was on while I was cooking lunch. Tate came out to the kitchen and told me he needed a pirate costume. He had to settle on the dragon costume from Aunt Becca. He was full of imagination today. He was a good daddy taking care of his baby and he also chased away elephants and fed giraffes in the jungle. 

Somersault

Tate did his first real somersault tonight. He was so excited!  He just had to wear my apron after supper. 

Hurry

Tate is in a hurry to grow up. He keeps telling me he wants to go to school. Tonight he was admiring Brett's whiskers and he touched his chin and said "I want whiskers there."  Give it time buddy!  He was a busy little kid today. He wanted to play with the nativity set. He also had Wilson join us for supper. I was hungry when I went grocery shopping and ended up with corn dogs, which is not something we ever eat. Tate wasn't a fan so Wilson got to eat that.

Challenge

I did the ice bucket challenge for ALS today. Brett's grandma fought ALS and hopefully this raises a lot of money for research. Tate thought it was great and put water in the bucket for me to do it again!  I made apple butter today and if is so good!

Sink

Tate was sitting on the counter by the sink helping me clean up the kitchen. As I was running a sink full of soapy water he crawled right in to take a bath.  He was very contained so I was able to clean up my mess quickly without Tateemptying all   the cabinets. 

Apples

Tate and I used the city baby pool one last time for the summer. Before we left town we picked some apples from my friend's tree. Tate thought it was just the best thing ever. Some of the branches were low enough that he could pick apples all by himself. 

Daddy

I caught up with a friend and got groceries this evening. Brett watched Tate. I think they had a good time without me. 

Fun

The pool closes on Sunday so we went for a swim today. We had to go down the slide at the park before we went home. Tate refused to take off his puppy towel for bed. He got to wear it while we read but then it had to come off. 

Funeral

Karen's wake service was last night. I have never been to a more fitting service.  It had jumbo cardboard cut outs of Elvis, all sorts of Elvis memorabilia, Elvis music and good family pictures.  There was a good crowd and many of Karen's caregivers and several friends were there.  Today we had the funeral.  Everything went well.  A lot of family showed up and the neighbors worked very hard at the dinner. We all ate a piece of chocolate in honor of Karen. I can't explain the sense of loss I feel.  I have already lost my grandparents and an uncle but it was so hard for me to say goodbye today.  Until we meet again, Piggy!  Kissy, kissy!

Fair

We went to Brett's parents' house earlier in the week to visit the fair and play with cousins!  Tate had a blast!!
