Worms

It rained again today and the worms were seeking dry land. Tate collected a few and the girls thought it was great!  They loved standing on the porch watching the rain fall and the worms wiggle away. The girls and I ran to Aldi's and Sam's this morning and made it back home in time for Tate to get off the bus. His asthma is flared up again. 

Fireman's Fun Day

We went to Fireman's Fun Day on Saturday. It was a lot of fun. Tate enjoyed himself but really wanted to play at grandma and grandpa's house instead. He took a much needed 3 hour nap today.

Apples

My friend let us pick apples off her tree today. Tate had SO much fun and asked if we could get our own apple tree. Audrey thought she was pretty awesome when she kept running away and Ellie just wanted to climb around inside the van. Tate had a great day at school. 

Bike

The bike riding finally clicked for Tate and he looks like a pro!  He rode his bike in circles in the shed for an hour. He was SO tired tonight that he was just an upset mess at bedtime. Brett went to parent orientation tonight at the school. Miss Ellie was quite a girl today. She stabbed Audrey in the face with a fork at supper and she started crying when I was rocking Audrey for bed. I found her soaking wet and inside the toothbrush drawer in the bathroom. Apparently she had a little fun in the sink. 

Talking

Tate finally had a lot to say about school today. He found a best friend and his name is Jaxson.  He got a "1" today at school for not listening. As far as I could understand you get a time out when you get to 3. A girl cried today (I know her mom had a baby yesterday) and not everyone follows to rules. The bus driver missed Layton's house and had to go back. She moved Tate to the other side of the bus this morning. Apparently grandpa has been out waving to him but he has been on the wrong side so he misses it. He told me tonight that he couldn't go to school tomorrow because he needed some time at home to sleep.

Wedding

The The My cousin, Nick, got married this weekend and it was so much fun. Audrey just wanted down during the ceremony so we spent most of it in the basement.  The reception had Willie the Wildcat. Tate thought it was fun to see him. Tate was ready for bed at 5:30 but he held it together until about 9 when he was just DONE. He had a huge meltdown because we didn't bring his air mattress even though we talked about me sharing a bed with him before we left. Then he had a major night terror and woke Audrey up. Brett and I had our two screaming kids in the hotel bathroom for an eternity as they both resisted all attempts at being calmed. Today we went swimming at the hotel. Audrey enjoyed it but Ellie hated it. Then we visited my college friend and her little family. It was great seeing my aunt and uncle enjoy the wedding so much. It really made me miss my grandparents and aunt. 

School

Tate had a great first day of preschool!  He wasn't afraid to ride the bus and when we met him at the school before class started he pretty much gave us the cold shoulder. He thought his carton of milk was delicious and loved the playground. I am so proud of him!

School

Tate starts school tomorrow. We finished out the summer by baking cookies and having a water balloon fight today. 

Hot

We played outside all day and it was hot. Tate had a "night-mirror" tonight. 

Errands

We went to town to run our errands today. We tried to go to the park first but the activity center was closed and Tate had to use the restroom. So we got our groceries the headed to our little grocery store for some fresh peaches. Tate rode the tractor with Brett so I got the ripe peaches ready for the freezer while the girls napped. 

Birthday

We went to Will's 4th birthday party yesterday. Everyone had fun it the girls got tired and crabby. Will has pigs at his house and Tate have them some water with a squirt gun. 

Phone

Ellie tossed my phone out of the van this afternoon as I was unbuckling Audrey and shattered the screen. So, Brett ran to town to get me a replacement. He is awesome. I have spent all evening trying to get signed back into everything. Tate had a great day. He is really enjoying playing with the girls. The girls are not napping or sleeping well. 

Mad

Tate was really mad at me this morning because I wouldn't let him have the iPad or the tv. He yelled at me and said that he was going to heaven and I was going to hell. He hasn't been sleeping well at all and it shows. He went with me to get a haircut and get groceries and did great. 

Popsicle

The girls had their first Popsicles with sticks tonight and they thought they were great!

Movie

Brett and Tate went to see The Secret Life of Pets this afternoon. I think Tate had fun. The girls were up all night. I am not sure what is going on with them. We have started moving bedtime earlier in preparation for school. Summer was great and I hate to see it go. 

Great

Today was a great day!  It rained again so Brett got to spend the day inside with us. My great-aunt Betty and her daughter Rhonda came over to my mom's for a visit. This afternoon we met my mom and dad at the park and went and got supper and free floats (for free float day) at A&W. Today is my mom and dad's 39th anniversary. My mom said that they were all up late fighting a tank battery the night before their wedding. They couldn't get into the hall until morning to decorate and set up so they didn't get a whole lot of sleep. It was a hot August day and a lady even let my mom take a bath at her house in between the dinner and the dance. 

Fair

We went up to the fair for the day on Wednesday. Tate had fun and even wanted to ride the tilt-a-whirl again this year. The girls weren't overly thrilled and Audrey cried on all of the rides. 

Enrollment

I enrolled Tate in preschool today. I am feeling sad and anxious about sending him off to school. We walked around the school and Tate thinks it is awesome. He is especially excited to play on the playground. 

Turtles

Tate and grandpa put the turtle trap in the pond and went to check it today and found four turtles. So, four turtles ended up in Duke's pool. We let them go tonight after the kids went to bed. Ellie just wanted to swim in the pool and didn't understand why she couldn't be in it. We went to the zoo this morning and got lunch with our friends.
