Water beads

Tate loved the water beads. They were supposed to be for Christmas but the bag was ripped when they arrived and I couldn't resist trying them.

Thanksgiving

We celebrated Mike and Joan's 40th Anniversary on Thanksgiving with a dinner consisting of both sides of their family. We got there on Wednesday and Tate had so much fun with his cousins. He didn't sleep well so he was exhausted for the party on Thursday. Everything seemed to make him cry so we left so I could give him a nap. We came home on Friday after more fun. Tate especially loved the dogs. He was always asking "Where Penny go?"

Cake

We ran to town for some DQ and a few groceries. Tate was in love with the cakes on display!  We had a battle at nap time. I took his car away and he told me, "It is not nice to take people's cars away mom!"
(Word to the wise:  If you make funny faces for the camera, I WILL put it on the blog.)

Laugh

Tate has been covering up his mouth his his hands a lot when he laughs. So cute! He had a low fever and runny nose this afternoon.

Owie

Tate's newest phase is telling me that he is hurt or that he has an owie. We are still playing with the boxes.

Doctor

Tate has his 2.5 year well check today.  We had to wait forever and he did good. He has a testicle that is trying to retract and if it does it will need surgery. We go back in 2 months. He got the flu mist while we were there. Then we had lunch at McDonald's.

Cute

Tate has been saying Jack and Jill went up a Hill.  I got it on video a few times. The babies wanted cookies so Tate helped me bake. He was good help until it was time to dump in the chocolate chips. He grabbed a handful and ran away.

Grandma

Tate spent the morning with grandma while I ran errands. I got him officially enrolled to start preschool two mornings a week after Christmas.  Tate was good for grandma. Apparently there is a monkey who strongly resembles Tate living in her basement.

Terrific Two

Aside from some days filled with "terrible two" behavior, I think that 2 year olds are pretty terrific. Tate had an awesome day. He did well at story hour and behaved while we got stamps at the post office. He couldn't fall asleep for his nap but wasn't crabby. He played in the basement with a barn toy and his cars. "Hi Mater, glad to see you" said a nice little car. The boys played outside and in grandpa's barn. Tate ate a good supper. Then we made play-doh turkeys. The feathers were uncooked spaghetti with pony beads on them. It was fun to watch Tate concentrate to get the beads on. He got a lot better with a little practice. Then he decided he needed a daddy, mommy, and baby snake. They went on adventures to the zoo and to the library to see the kids.  Baby snake wanted some milk but he was not tall enough to reach the top of the straw cup so Daddy snake had to lift him up. All the snakes were giving out tons of hugs and kisses. Then Tate cut them all into tiny pieces. Ha. In the bath Tate asked, "Mom, can you boo me?  I have the hiccups."

Snow

We made "snow" out of cornstarch and
shaving cream and Tate loved it. He had recently watched Frosty the Snowman so  he was singing and playing away.

Boxes

Tate played with these boxes all day. He built giant sea creatures, castles, towers, race tracks and more!

29

I am officially 29. The day was pretty ordinary as I was feeling sick today. Tate was pretty excited to give met card this morning. My mom surprised me with a cake. He told grandma that it was a beautiful cake. He did good singing and shouted "Let's eat some cake!" after the end of the song. I hope this year brings two healthy babies to add to the chaos.

Crazy day

We woke up to find that we had no water. I had a rough start to the day. Brett called and said there was a calf stuck in the ice in the pond. We managed to all get ready and into town to snap a few family pictures. Tate did better than I expected so I think we got a few good ones. They came out and checked the windows this afternoon. Tate's room seems drafty. They added caulk around the frame but it hasn't seemed to fix the problem entirely. Tate pretended he was camping this afternoon. We made a toilet paper tube turkey after supper. Tate enjoyed it.

Bed

Tate must have got out on the wrong side of the bed this morning. He started the day angry at 5:45 and was a pill the entire day.  I had a rough day, especially evening.

Chocolate

Tate got a package from his aunt today. He was pretty excited about the CHOCOLATE!  He screamed with joy!  Brett was using the vacuum and Tate thought he needed to help with the dust buster.  I have a cold and feel terrible. It is making my morning sickness worse. I am thankful I put a bucket by my bed months ago.

Horrible

Last night was terrible. Tate threw up all over his bed twice in the middle of the night. He also threw up on me which made me get sick. So by morning we were on our 3rd complete set of bedding, including pillows and comforter, 3 sets of pjs for Tate, 2 sets of pjs for me and 2 pairs of shorts for Brett.  Tate wasn't too interested in eating or drinking but he kept everything down. By afternoon he was running around outside.

Bug

I knew this day would come eventually.  Tate had his first stomach bug.  He threw up on Brett first thing this morning and then cried and said it was scary. He threw up all morning and cried and shook each time. Poor guy. He napped like normal and then tried to drink juice. It didn't stay down but shortly after he started eating and drinking with success. He was very clingy to me this evening and woke up once already and called out for me.

During our bedtime prayer he told me that Jesus was sleeping and I needed to be quiet.

Funny

Tate was really loving the babies again today.  He put his head on my belly and said, "Babies!  Come get me!"

Tate got to help cut milo today.  Since today was rough for me and corn harvest made me sick, I opted to just be Tate's chauffeur to and from the field.

I went over Tate's evaluation from his teacher today. He has received services for one year. He is at or above everything should be doing except he struggles at playing with other children. She observes him at daycare and has seen improvements.

Finally, Tate was talking to the babies before bed and I passed gas. Tate yelled, "The babies are pooping!"  Gotta love him!  Ha!!

Sleep

Tate finally slept better last night and boy was he happy today. He told me that his brother and sister needed to grow some more. Later he gave my belly lots of kisses. He pretended that fish were biting him. Best of all, he told me that he loved me without me saying it first.  I love my smart, silly boy!

Vote

I voted today. Tate had fun doing something different. He also enjoyed the metal fireman outside the fire station/polling location. He was on a path of mass destruction today and was into everything.

Music

Tate is making music!  Poor guy still has a cough at night and isn't sleeping well.
