Apples
Tate and I used the city baby pool one last time for the summer. Before we left town we picked some apples from my friend's tree. Tate thought it was just the best thing ever. Some of the branches were low enough that he could pick apples all by himself.

Daddy
I caught up with a friend and got groceries this evening. Brett watched Tate. I think they had a good time without me.

Fun
The pool closes on Sunday so we went for a swim today. We had to go down the slide at the park before we went home. Tate refused to take off his puppy towel for bed. He got to wear it while we read but then it had to come off.

Funeral
Karen's wake service was last night. I have never been to a more fitting service. It had jumbo cardboard cut outs of Elvis, all sorts of Elvis memorabilia, Elvis music and good family pictures. There was a good crowd and many of Karen's caregivers and several friends were there. Today we had the funeral. Everything went well. A lot of family showed up and the neighbors worked very hard at the dinner. We all ate a piece of chocolate in honor of Karen. I can't explain the sense of loss I feel. I have already lost my grandparents and an uncle but it was so hard for me to say goodbye today. Until we meet again, Piggy! Kissy, kissy!

Karen
My Aunt Karen passed away on Tuesday. I am going to miss her very much. She was Elvis' number one fan. My earliest memories of her are when she was watching Elvis movies at my grandma's house. She would scream and sing to the movies and call Elvis her boyfriend or husband. She also loved Father of the Bride, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and various Disney movies. My whole family would tease her at Christmas. She sure loved candy but HATED to share. She always managed to get more Christmas gifts than anyone else. Some other random things that I don't want to forget include:
-She called people she loved "Piggy" and moved her pinky in circles.
-She bowled for Special Olympics.
-She did a good job of holding her wig in the wind but once in a while it would get away from her!
-She would pull each end off of a French fry then dip it in ketchup before eating it.
-She would take a tiny drink of pop at a time and go "ahh" after each drink until the can was gone.
-She LOVED her jewelry and would wear bracelets clear up her arm.
-"Oh boy! Goodie, Goodie, Goodie!"
-She would swat flies when making the sign of the cross.

Robot
Tate was entertaining himself with buckets while I was cleaning a cantaloupe. He came up to me with buckets on his feet and said he was a robot! Silly guy! He thought my robot talk was hilarious as documented below. He has been toe walking a lot lately.
